Beautiful Day for a Beautification Award

January 21st was a gorgeous day in Wilson County as everyone arrived at the Polley Mansion for the Wilson County Beautification Society award ceremony. Crowds gathered on the front lawn of Whitehall as Keith and Robin Muschalek were presented with an award for their hard work in cleaning up the property and restoration work on the Polley Mansion.

As many recall, when the Muschalek family purchased the property, it was full of junk and trash that had been left behind, both inside and outside the Mansion, and the Linne house that sits behind the Mansion on the property. In his speech, Keith announced that the clean-up phase of the restoration work is pretty much finished, and now their focus is shifting to the restoration work that needs to be done on the home, inside and out.

Keith and Robin are working with the Texas Historical Commission to gain knowledge about the standards of historic preservation and renovation. Their goal is to insure that the home is stable, secure, and restored to honor the home's past, while making it livable for modern people.

If you would like to contribute to their efforts, you can donate to the Friends of the Polley Mansion non-profit organization. All donations go directly to the renovation projects at Whitehall.
